In March I wrote, recorded, and mixed a soundtrack for the documentary GTFO, about sexism in the video game industry. It's been a really fun project because I get to write in a lot of different genres, which is always a welcome challenge. For a few of the pieces I also got to realize my nerdy childhood dream of making 8-bit video game music! Right now I'm finishing up engineering overdubs for a new EP with Corbu, recording overdubs at my personal studio, Wonder Room Recording, and at Vacation Island Recording in Brooklyn. Stay tuned for that release via Three Beat Records (UK).
I've been wrapping up mixing on Abakis' debut LP I'm One Too at Wonder Room. I've been working on this album throughout the Winter and Spring and I am really happy with how it has turned out - gorgeous songs built around beautiful, layered arrangements. Here is a behind the scenes look at the recording process, shot in December at Seaside Lounge in Brooklyn where we did all the basic tracking:

Twin Wave, a band from Brooklyn that I worked with on their debut EP, has enlisted me to produce, record, and mix their new single. We recorded drums at Seaside Lounge and overdubs at Wonder Room. The band is channeling more of a modern R and B sound on this record, mixed with a guitar rock vibe. It's been fun balancing these two sounds. Stay tuned for a fall release and accompanying music video.
This summer, my band Double King is recording its new LP. We will be working on it at Seaside Lounge and at Wonder Room, laying down basics to a great sounding 2" 16 track 3M m56 tape machine. I'm engineering and playing lead guitar, and I co-wrote many of the songs on the album. It's going to sound very groovy.
In July I'm doing some more film post-production work, recording and mixing a soundtrack and dialogue for a documentary about fracking in North Dakota.
That's all for now - enjoy this beautiful weather!
