Double King's New EP

January 10, 2013

IMG_0215My first project of the new year is working on a new, 4-song Double King EP.  We tracked one song in December called "Silent in My Arms," which features Renata Zeiguer of Vensaire on strings, and we just recorded two more tunes called "Holy Water" and "Red Tide."  We're doing the record where we did the LP, Sound Machine Studios in Manhattan. Whereas the self-titled album was done mostly live with very few overdubs, I've encouraged the band to get more expansive on this release.  We've been adding lots of different layers and new instrumentation - the Wurlitzer especially has been getting a lot of use - and we've been busting out some synths and samplers (see the photo) for these new tracks. Found sounds have also been used for some percussion tracks.  As always, we're putting a lot of miles on the Space Echo.  Sound Machine also has a great selection of guitars and amplifiers, and we've been using its arsenal to the fullest.  Definitely big guitar tones going on.  Look for the EP in the Spring.

"Silent in My Arms" was supposed to be a demo, but the vibe was so cool we kept it.
